South Australia's Premier Racing Club

The South Australian Jockey Club is creating a state-of-the-art experience with the installation of Panasonic commercial plasma panels throughout Adelaide’s Allan Scott Park to enhance the race-going experience and add a new dimension to corporate function areas – including seven 103-inch panels for a breathtaking visual display.

Brenton Wilkinson, South Australian Jockey Club chief executive officer, said: “We’ve partnered with Panasonic to install technology to provide an experience for our guests that is second to none, in line with our aim of creating South Australia’s premier sporting and entertainment environment.”

The grandstand and corporate facilities have been totally upgraded. A total of 340 commercial plasma panels – in 103-inch, 65-inch, 50-inch and 42-inch screen sizes – are being rolled out to provide entertainment and information. The screens will be located on all floors of the grandstand, in trackside dining, in bars, gaming venues and restaurants, and VIP and corporate facilities as well as in the stewards’ and jockeys’ areas. They are also being installed at the SAJC’s two entertainment properties at Morphettville Junction and Cheltenham.

Brenton Wilkinson, SAJC, explained: “The screens run a range of content including live racing vision from the track and SKY footage from interstate, betting odds and tote odds, tipster information and advertising. In addition, with 40 per cent of our income generated through functions outside raceday such as weddings and corporate events, an important part of the upgrade was to modernise our VIP pavilions with the 103-inch plasmas. Customers who’ve booked the Panasonic Pavillion and the Tapestry Pavillion are already taking advantage of this".

Mark Deere-Jones, director of Business Systems Group, Panasonic Australia, said: “The SAJC has taken full advantage of the plasma technology available today to create a world-class facility. Panasonic is the only supplier able to provide the flexibility of this range of sizes, and this installation demonstrates the full range of capabilities in one venue.”

“We have also partnered with the SAJC to take advantage of branding opportunities available to Panasonic at the venue. We have a sponsorship agreement that includes the Group 2 Queen of the South Stakes in April, and permanent signage in key locations including the Mounting Yard, the home straight, the Panasonic Pavillion, and the Morphettville Junction tower on Anzac Highway.”
