Filmmaker Jack McCoy is known for his spectacular land and water photography that includes surfing, ocean waves, sunsets, time lapse, dolphins and whales and coastal scenes.
He has produced, directed and photographed 24 IS feature and short films on surfing, including the award winning Storm Riders, The Green Iguana, Billabong Challenge, Occy the Occumentary, TO’Day of Days, Free As A Dog and Blue Horizon.
Blue Horizon, starring Andy Irons and Dave Rastovich, has received the 2004 Surfer Magazine Award for Best Cinematography and also picked up the award for best Reportage Documentary at the 22nd Sports Movies and Television International Festival in Milan, Italy, with entries from over 90 countries.
His 1984 windsurfing film Tradewind is considered a classic among wave sailors, and his award winning short films, Kongs Island, Rhythm of the Sea and A Day in the Life of Wayne Lynch are still being shown around the world. He was part of the photographic team that worked with Bruce Brown on ‘The Endless Summer II’.
