Iconic design paired with sensational technology
The Lumix DMC-GX1 showcases a classic design. It is engineered for quality in both form and function, with high-performance features and a high-grade chassis. Packed inside its sleek body is a large sensor for capturing D-SLR-like image quality as well as an accurate, super-fast auto focus and many advanced features. The result is nothing less than an elegant, easy-to-use interchangeable lens camera delivering polished images.
Enjoy brilliant picture quality
With a 16.0-megapixel Four Thirds sensor, the DMC-GX1 delivers super-high-resolution photos that you can enlarge and crop as you desire. So you have more creative photography options and brilliant quality with every shot. The Live MOS sensor plays a big role in high quality image rendering. With the dedicated circuit which reads out signals with minimum noise, the level of noise is significantly suppressed by more than 66%. In shooting at high ISO setting, S/N (Signal-to-Noise) value is improved by approx. 200% compared with the conventional 12.1-megapixel sensor. The sensor performance improves by 6db at ISO3200 and max. 9db at ISO6400, resulting in dramatically flawless images
Your camera, just the way you like it
Operating the DMC-GX1 is smooth and easy, with an intuitive layout and dedicated function buttons. Frequently-used settings can be assigned to 2 buttons on the camera body and 2 in the software tab for easy access. In addition, a total of 4 custom setting patterns can be saved on the camera, convenient if more than one person is using it. ‘Level Gauge’ detects the horizontal and vertical angle of view while shooting and displays this on-screen. Photos shot in portrait aspect will be automatically displayed vertically during capture and playback.
Extended high resolution videos in a small body
The DMC-GX1 is an advanced photographic tool for recording not only great photos but also beautiful full HD 1,920 x 1,080 videos in AVCHD (MPEG-4 / H.264) format*. The AVCHD format features almost twice the recording time in HD quality than the conventional Motion JPEG and excels in the compatibility with AV devices like HDTVs or Blu-ray Disc™ players.
* Full HD (1,920 × 1,080) videos are output by the image sensor at 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL), and recorded at 60i (NTSC) / 50i (PAL). HD (1,280 × 720) videos are output by the image sensor at 30p (NTSC) / 25p (PAL), and recorded at 60p (NTSC) / 50p (PAL).
Intuitive operation simplifies shooting and playback
The 3.0-inch touch-screen allows you to navigate the menu system more accurately and easily. It includes touch-shutter, touch-AF, touch-playback and more. A newly adopted control dial gives you another avenue for smooth, free control. Just turn it and choose the icons you want to set. It makes complicated settings fun and easy.
