Jitter from shaky hands is far and away the biggest single cause of blurry shots.LUMIX cameras help solve this problem with advanced MEGA O.I.S. (optical image stabiliser) technology. Its performance has gained in both speed and precision with the developed Venus Engine Plus LSI.
The LUMIX cameras also feature two correction modes to meet different shooting needs. 'Mode 1' continuously compensates for jitter. In this mode image stabilisation is constantly on, and helps you to compose shots in the LCD monitor. With the newly incorporated 1-point high-speed AF, the shutter time lag (including AF speed, i.e., the time from "full shutter button pressing" to "picture capturing") has been dramatically reduced to 1/3 of our previous level*, and has resulted in the achievement of industry-leading short shutter time lag for a high zoom model. Although screen-freeze in high-speed AF is now minimised, if you take the picture of subject with fast movement, you can select 1-point normalspeed AF which does not have any screen-freeze while focusing. Leica DC Vario-Elmarit LensThe Leica DC lens inherits both its name and its outstanding quality from the Leica family of lenses that are renowned in the film camera world for their superb performance and compact size. FZ5 uses the LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT, these lenses systems include several aspherical lenses to compensate for spherical aberration. In addition, an advanced multi coating process applied to lens surfaces helps to prevent fogging caused by flare and ghosts that result from excessive light. Venus Engine II LSIIn addition to the 50% improvement in diagonal resolution achieved by the previous Venus Engine, our new version boosts resolution in the vertical and horizontal directions by 10%. It also digitally corrects colour aberration in telephoto shots and vignetting, problems that are common to every optical lens. A colour adjustment process that sub-divides the conventional 4-axis correction into a finer, 12-axis correction further helps to render clearer, more vivid images. Finally, the Venus Engine II's higher processing speed slashes the release time lag to about 0.006 second minimum, and the shutter interval to about 0.1 second minimum**. The resulting high-speed response lets you shoot more easily and comfortably. Noise in dark areas is reduced to as little as one-third without affecting the image quality in bright areas.
